Document Delivery and Interlibrary Loans

Document Delivery - What is it?

The document delivery service allows eligible staff and students to request information resources that are not available via the University of Notre Dame Library. Clients can request loans of items or scanned copies of journal articles or book chapters.

Who can use this service?

  • Contracted academic staff
  • PhD candidates
  • Masters by Thesis students
  • Masters by Coursework students with a major thesis component
  • Honours students
  • External Students (Broome and Fremantle Campuses only)

To be eligible to use the document delivery service you must have an unencumbered Notre Dame Library account.
To access this service you must use your Notre Dame email account.

How do I lodge a request?

Before lodging a request for document delivery check to see if the item is held in the University of Notre Dame Library.

For books:

  • Search Summon
  • Check to see if it is available via a local reciprocal borrowing scheme (you may be able to get the item quicker this way)
  • Consider whether this would be useful resource for other staff and students and make a recommendation for the Library to purchase the item using the Resource Recommendation Form.

 

For theses:

  • Search Summon
  • Search the research repository of the author's home institution  

 

For journal articles:

  • Search Summon
  • Search for the journal by title in the E Journal Portal
  • Search Google Scholar

 

If you still cannot access the required item you will need to submit a document delivery request form.

  • Include full citation details for the item required
  • Date the request form and select your user type
  • Select the appropriate copyright declaration and provide details of your name and School.
  • Email the completed form to your University of Notre Dame Library using your Notre Dame email account.
