EndNote has the ability to search for full text articles which you have access to through Notre Dame's library subscriptions and/or that are freely available on the Internet to attach to your existing references. When EndNote locates a copy of an article, it automatically downloads and attaches the PDF the corresponding EndNote record.
To set up your EndNote Library so that it can search for full text within the Notre Dame online collections and attach PDFs to your EndNote references, you will need to edit your EndNote preferences as follows.
- In EndNote, open the Preferences and select the Find Full Text section: Edit > Preferences > Find full text
- Check the boxes for:
- DOI
- PubMed LinkOut
- OpenURL
- Add the URL strings below: [NOTE: The OpenURL Path link will change in late 2020. Please contact the library, check this guide or search AskUs for EndNote OpenURL to see the new link]
- OpenURL Path (valid for use until late 2020): http://BV8JA7KW5X.search.serialssolutions.com
- Authenticate with URL: http://ipacez.nd.edu.au/login?url= .
- Click on Apply, then OK.

To find the full text for references in your EndNote Library^:
- Select the reference(s) - for efficiency it is suggested that no more than 10 references are highlighted at a time, as downloading full text can be very slow
- Click the Find Full Text icon
on the toolbar, or click References > Find Full Text > Find Full Text.
^ Note that this function is most reliable if the article has a DOI.
