This software catalogue identifies different types of software licenses.
The information below is an explanation as to the nature and requirements of these license types.
Software identified as 'Standard Operating Environment' will normally already be installed on your PC/device. If this is not the case, you can submit a 'Help Desk Request' to have it installed.
Any software identified as 'Standard Operating Environment' appears as the first entry within a category list.
Software identified as 'License required' cannot be installed on your work PC/device without purchase of a license. If UNDA already has a license agreement then you may be able to purchase an additional license, but this will need to be allocated in your school/department budget. In most cases this will require approval of a Dean/Director.
If UNDA does not have a license agreement, then a formal business case may be required. A business case template can be obtained from IT. Any license agreement to purchase new software will also need to be approved by Legal.
Software identified as 'free' can be installed on your personal devices, but not on your work PC/device. If needed on your work PC/device you will need to go through the same process as for 'License required'.
Cloud based software solutions may not require installation on your work PC/device. However, there may be license, IP, data security and privacy issues when using these solutions for UNDA purposes. Examples would include hosting videos on You-Tube or storing files in the cloud via Dropbox. It is advised that you consult with your Dean/Director before using Cloud based software solutions for UNDA purposes.
Use of Cloud based software solutions will most likely require:
Staff are responsible for any required licensing of software installed on their own devices, e.g. at home, or on personal mobile devices such as mobile phones, tablets, or laptops.
