Alerting Services

Keep up to date with the latest research in your area of focus.

TOC alerts overview

Journal table of contents (TOC) alerts help you keep up to date with the latest articles published in your favourite journals.

Subscribers are notified whenever a new journal issue is published, along with links to the articles included in that issue.

Finding journals to follow

When deciding which journals to follow for current awareness, aim to build a focused list that supports your research interests and professional goals. Keep your number of alerts at a realistic level that is manageable and be open to change as your interests evolve.

You could begin by consulting with supervisors and colleagues about the publications they find most valuable. Or use one of the services below to discover titles in your field.

Setting up TOC alerts

To set up a Table of Contents alert for a journal title, you'll usually need to create a free account with the database first.

After registering, search for the journal title you're interested in and look for an option to subscribe to alerts. Some databases may show a bell icon to indicate alert settings.

Below are links to instructions for setting up alerts in some of the popular databases at Notre Dame.
