Kathryn Hird (Associate Dean, Research - School of Medicine) shares her inspiring work on student-led Wikipedia editing to provide free, accurate medical information to people worldwide and the critical role of collaboration in its development.
International Open Access Week is organised by SPARC (Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition) in partnership with the Open Access Week Advisory Committee.
The theme for OA Week 2025 is Who owns our knowledge? This theme asks a pointed question about the present moment and how, in a time of disruption, communities can reassert control over the knowledge they produce. It also challenges us to reflect on not only who has access to education and research but on how knowledge is created and shared, where it has come from, and whose voices are recognised and valued.
Open Access Australasia is hosting three online events during the week. You can also see what's on around Australia, and register, at OA Week 2025: Events in our region.
