Recommending & Requesting

I want...

If you have not found the resource in our collection, you can submit a request directly through your My Library Account in FiNDit by following the steps below:

 

  1. In your search results page, navigate to the left hand menu and click the option to Expand results beyond our collection 
  2. Search for the item that you are trying to access
  3. If it appears in your results, click on the link that says No Online Access
    1. If it doesn't appear, see the next section below
  4. Scroll down to the How to get It section
  5. If you haven't already, sign into FiNDit with your student or staff number and Notre Dame password
  6. Click on the gold Resource sharing link and complete or edit any required information and tick the declaration
  7. Click Send request
  8. You will then see a Copyright Restrictions notice that you must agree to so that your request can be successfully placed.

If you have not had success finding a record using the method above, you can submit a new request using the steps below:

 

  1. At the top of your results page in FiNDit, click on the Find Item button
  2. Enter in as much details as possible about the item you are wanting to access 
  3. Click Submit
  4. Navigate to the How to Get it section and click the gold Resource Sharing button
  5. Scroll down and complete any further information in the form, click the declaration and then Send Request
     

Once you have submitted your request you will receive any further communications to your student or staff email address

This service is available to all students and staff.

  2. Tick Recommend a Purchase from the options at the top of the form.

 

  • Books and films can be recommended using this form.
  • If you would like to recommend a journal subscription or other resource type, please email your Liaison Librarian.
  • Recommendations will be actioned within the parameters of our budget and Collection Development Guidelines

I want my students to...

Q: Do you already have access to the document (article, book chapter, etc)?

 

A: YES

  1. Create a Leganto Reading List using the support guide : Reading Lists: Guide for Academic Staff
  2. Upload a copy of your document following these instructions: Materials NOT available in the Library collection. 
  3. Publish your Reading List and the Library will make your document available to your students. 

 

A: NO

  1. Create a Leganto Reading List using the support guide : Reading Lists: Guide for Academic Staff
  2. Include details of the document you require following the instructions at the bottom of this page: Materials NOT available in the Library collection. 
  3. Publish your Reading List and the Library will source your document and make it available to your students. 


A. UNSURE

  • Search FiNDit for the document (article, chapter etc) before returning here and selecting the relevant answer.

Q: Does the Library already have the book in a print or electronic copy?

 

A: YES

  1. Create a Leganto Reading List using the support guide: Reading Lists: Guide for Academic Staff.
  2. Add the book to your list following these instructions: Materials available in the Library collection. 
  3. Publish your Reading List and an eBook will be immediately available to your students, and a print book will be moved into the Course Reserves (High Demand) collection by library staff. 

 

 

A: NO

  1. Create a Leganto Reading List using the support guide: Reading Lists: Guide for Academic Staff.
  2. Include details of the book you require following the instructions on this page: Materials NOT available in the Library collection. 
  3. Publish your Reading List and the Library will seek to purchase the book you require. 

 

  • Allow at least 6 weeks processing time for new print book purchases 
  • If a copy is not available to purchase, the Library will contact you via email. 

 

A: UNSURE

  • Search FiNDit for the book before returning here and selecting the relevant answer.
