How to request

Requesting items on loan

  1. Search for a library item in the FiNDit discovery service to ensure that the Library holds a copy.
  2. Sign in to FiNDit to access your request options.
  3. Click Request to place a hold on the item.
  4. The current borrower will be given seven days to return the item. 

Request criteria:

  • You must be a currently enrolled student or an academic staff member.
  • A copy of the item must be held on the same campus where you are enrolled.
  • The items must be a standard loan and currently checked out (unless you are in Fremantle). 

Requesting items in Fremantle

Items located in St Teresa's Library High Demand Room can be retrieved directly from the shelf and borrowed using one of the library's self-check machines. You may also place a request to have these items collected and placed on the hold shelf for you. 

Items located in St Teresa's Library Main Collection are held in compactus storage and must be requested in order to borrow:

  1. Search for a library item in the FiNDit discovery service to ensure that the Fremantle campus library holds a copy.
  2. Sign in to FiNDit to access your request options.
  3. Click Request to place a hold on the item.
  4. You will receive an email to your student email address when the item is available for collection.
    1. If the item is immediately available, it will be collected within 24 hours and placed on the hold shelf for you. 
    2. If all copies are currently out on loan, a copy will be recalled and the current borrower will be given seven days to return the item.

Requesting items in Fremantle for Community, Reciprocal and Alumni borrowers

Please visit staff at the front desk in St Teresa's Library to borrow items from the collection.

If you would like to request items in advance of your visit, please email a list of the items to fremantle.stteresaslibrary@nd.edu.au


Request criteria:

  • You must hold a current membership for the library.
  • A copy of the item must be held on the Fremantle campus. 
  • The items must be a standard loan.

What is a recalled item?

Recalled items are items that are out on loan and have been requested by another borrower, because no other copies are available.

If your item has been recalled, you will receive a notification via email that the due date has changed. You will be expected to return the item to the library within 7 days. Recalled items cannot be renewed. 

Collecting Requests

When the item is available, you will be informed via an email to your student/staff email address.

The item will then be held at the Library for you to collect within 7 days.


Collecting items in Fremantle

Holds are located inside the High Demand Room in St Teresa's Library, and are listed alphabetically by surname. 

Collect your hold from the shelf and proceed to a self-check machine to borrow the item.

Please note: you will need your Student ID card to borrow items using the self-check machines.
