Example of AGLC rule for bibliographic citation of legal commentary
 

Commentaries (looseleaf services)

Rule 7.8: General rules: 
Author or Publisher, Title, Vol number (at most recent service date for pinpoint or if not available date accessed) [pinpoint]
Author: Use the author if clearly identified otherwise use the Publisher as the first element.
Date:  References to online commentaries/looseleaf services should give the the date at which the entry was retrieved (online at Full Date).

The pinpoint must be sufficient to locate your citation. Add either the legislation title or chapter title if the pinpoint is inadequate after the date.

 

Terminology note:

'Legal Commentaries' are also called "Looseleaf Services":  'Commentaries' is the term used on databases, 'Looseleaf Services' is the historical term for the printed versions and this term continues to be used in AGLC.
