Document Delivery & Interlibrary Loan

Eligible staff and students can request access to resources that the Notre Dame Library doesn't have in order to support their teaching, learning, and research.

Document Delivery:

Scanned copies of journal articles, book chapters, conference proceedings and more. Submit a request and we will see if we can source it.

Interlibrary Loan:

Loans of items (typically books) from other Australian libraries.

The following students and staff are eligible for this service:

  • Current academic staff member
  • PhD student
  • MD student
  • Masters student
  • Honours student
  • Remote student (Check eligibility at the link below)
  • Student with a Learning Access Plan (LAP)

You must also have an unencumbered Notre Dame Library account.

Follow instructions at the links below. You must provide your Notre Dame email account when completing the form.

Before submitting a request, search FiNDit to see if the resource is available from Notre Dame, and also check Google Scholar.

How do I lodge a request?

Before lodging a request for document delivery check to see if the item is held in the University of Notre Dame Library.

For books:

  • Search FiNDit
  • Check to see if it is available via a local reciprocal borrowing scheme (you may be able to get the item quicker this way)
  • Consider whether this would be a useful resource for other staff and students and make a recommendation for the Library to purchase the item using the Recommend a Purchase form.

For theses:

  • Search FiNDit
  • Search the research repository of the author's home institution  

For journal articles:

  • Search FiNDit
  • Search for the journal by title (under the eJournals tab on our homepage)
  • Search Google Scholar

If you still cannot access the required item you will need to submit a Resource Access Request form for document delivery.

  • Select your user type
  • Include full citation details for the item required
  • Select the appropriate copyright declaration and provide details of your name and School.
