Liaison librarians are available to assist academic staff to develop and enhance their research skills, as well as provide training for effectively utilising new and updated information resources. Liaison librarians are available to provide instruction on information literacy and research skills within academic programmes. This may be in the form of lectures, tutorials, workshops, activities and assessments. All teaching is designed to enhance and develop information literacy and research skills and to increase students awareness of library resources available. Liaison librarians at Notre Dame all have relevant, formal training and experience in university teaching.
Less formal information literacy and research skills sessions for individuals or groups may also be arranged.

The Library has created an Information Literacy Framework (based on national and international frameworks) which scaffolds skills for students from foundational level to postgraduate, and encourages a deeper understanding of what knowledge practices and dispositions an information literate student should develop.
